NewsXchange of 2023 in Dublin marked the return of the prestigious event for the first time in two and a half years.
The conference served as an important occasion to discuss and address the contemporary challenges and future of news in today’s rapidly evolving digital environment.
This two-day conference, headlined by figures including Ireland’s Taoiseach Leo Varadkar TD and EBU Director General Noel Curran, provided a fruitful forum for networking and debate. Here, Wolftech demonstrated its range of solutions designed to empower modern, efficient, and responsive newsrooms globally.
Opening the event, EBU Director General Noel Curran called for a “fundamental rethink” in how the industry approaches news, highlighting the need for changes in “the choice of stories, presentation, narrative and fundamentally in who we recruit as journalists now and in the future.”
Taoiseach Leo Varadkar TD acknowledged the complex relationship between mainstream media and social media platforms. He noted the importance of public service broadcasting, stating that it was increasingly important because people need somewhere “to go for accurate information.”
As news organisations adapt to emerging platforms, RTÉ News multimedia journalist Una Kelly at News Xchange 2023 emphasised that “the platforms will change and that time will pass but the actual journalism itself is going to remain the constant.”
In light of increasing online threats faced by journalists, Martin Řezníček, senior international correspondent and deputy editor-in-chief of Czech TV News, encouraged journalists to maintain their integrity, advising that they “must play Devil’s advocate” even under pressure from audiences.
Reflecting on the productive two days spent in Dublin, we extend our sincere thanks to all attendees who expressed interest in our solutions. With the insights and connections garnered at NewsXchange 2023, we are inspired to further develop the relationships and partnerships initiated during the event.
As the industry confronts significant challenges, including misinformation and the growing need for reliable journalism, Wolftech stands as a steadfast partner for news organisations aiming for truth, accuracy, and efficiency.
We look forward to our continued engagement with the industry and are eager to participate in future events that drive our shared mission forward.
